María Elena Jarquín Sánchez
Ma. Elena Jarquin has a Ph.D. in Sociology, and is a Researcher of the Feminist Research Program, of the UNAM Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Jarquin has training in the areas of Social Policies, basic food production, family micro-enterprises and gender studies. She has participated in about twenty research projects, funded by various national and international institutions in the areas of environment, production of basic foods, work and family micro-enterprises, evaluation and implementation of social policies and, more recently, in the themes of feminism, migration, and violence. Some of her recent projects include binational migration, food security, and local development. Three cases of binational migration from emerging regions of Mexico "(2010-2011). Co-coordinator of the "The challenges of feminism in Latin America" International Fellowship (2011-2014). Academic Committee Member of the "Introduction to Feminist Theory and Research" Online Diploma (2014-2017). Currently, she participates in the Diagnostic Research project for a UNAM Segura (2012- present). Her current research under the title "Geographies of binational migration" covers several lines of research related to the phenomenon of migration, families that stay and leave, and various types of violence against women.
