Visiting Reseach Scholars Resources

The University of Arizona College of Social and Behavioral Sciences though the Office of Mexico Initiatives welcomes visiting researchers and scholars from Mexico seeking to conduct research on Mexico, the US.-Mexico Border, Mexico-U.S. Relations, the North American Region, social transborder processes in the region, Mexican American Studies, Latin American Studies, and any theme that aligns with the SBS Mexico Initiatives mission. Eligible visiting faculty, social scientists, scholars, researchers, graduate students, and collaborators should be affiliated with Mexican Institutions and Agencies from our Institutional Partnership Network (https://mexico.arizona.edu/about/institutional-partners).

By receiving visiting research scholars SBS Mexico Initiatives seeks to achieve its mission of celebrating and promoting awareness of the important of social sciences in Mexico and the United States. We support formal requests from prospective visiting scholars to establish their association with the college of SBS as Designated Campus Colleagues (DCC). The DCC status identifies contributions and collaborations with and to our academic, research, and/or extension missions. Because a DCC may be granted access to UA systems and other privileges, it is imperative that we grant this status only to those who are actively contributing to our mission. These DCC affiliations are not granted without an active purpose and contribution to enhancing, contributing, advancing, or consolidating our collaborative scholarly activities and joint research efforts on the social and behavioral sciences with Mexico, its academic institutions, organizations, scholars, students, and communities.

Important: Any DCC who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States will provide a copy of visa documents showing an immigration status that is appropriate for the DCC type and duties/activities of the DCC assignment. The International Faculty & Scholars (IFS) unit within the UA Global offers support to departments regarding immigration regulations.
