Associate Researcher at the Geography Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Guillermo Castillo received his Ph.D in 2010 and his Master's in anthropology in 2006 from the UNAM. He made several Postdoctoral Stays at the UNAM and other institutions. It is a member of the SNI (1). Since 2006 his research work has focused on indigenous groups in the south and northwest of Mexico. From 2011 to 2013 he carried out a postdoctoral project at UNAM on the history of anthropology in Mexico, the representations of ethnic groups and Mexican nationalism. Partial results of their projects have been presented in National and International Colloquiums and Congresses, as well as in some publications. He has done fieldwork in the southeast of Chiapas, among communities of Tojolobal descent, and in the northwest of Sonora, with the Tohono O'odham (Pápagos), in the desert of Altar. His works have been published, among others in magazine and publications, such as in Desacatos, Cuicuilco, Scaffolding, Alteridades, Mexican Journal of Political and Social Sciences, Sans Solei, South Mexican Journals, American and Controversies and Latin American Concurrences. Since 2008 he has ventured into anthropological photography and some of his photographic series are found in websites and digital photography magazines in Mexico, France, Spain, Argentina and the United States.
