Laura Vazquez Maggio

Laura Vázquez Maggio, Ph.D., is a full-time Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the UNAM. She holds a bachelor's degree in Economics with honors from UNAM, a PhD from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and is a member of the National System of Researchers. As a tenured researcher, she has a project on Mexican Migration, approved and funded as PAPIIT-UNAM, highly qualified in the USA, by the DGAPA-UNAM Academic Staff Support Department. Some of her works have been published in journals such as Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Qualitative Research Journal, Economic Research, EconomíaUNAM, Economía Informa and Momento Económico. This year she published with the Editorial Springer the book Mobility Patterns and Experiences of the Middle Classes in a Globalizing Age, and in 2016 she published a book chapter with the editorial Palgrave Macmillan on the migratory motivations and adaptation experiences of Mexicans in Australia, within the book edited by Elizabeth Kath on relations between Australia and Latin America. Her academic and professional work for the last 10 years has been mainly interdisciplinary, covering the areas of economy, development and migration. As a professor, she teaches undergraduate and master's degrees in the areas of economic theory, economic history, economic development and health economics. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences and seminars.
